John Young home. John was the father of Brigham Young. Half of the home is on the north side of Cheese Factory Road.

 

The other half of the John Young home has been moved across the street. Both halves are owned by the LDS church, but are private residences.

 

Mendon Cemetery. The tombstone of Miriam Works Young, first wife of Brigham Young.

 

Tombstone of Solomon Kimball, father of Heber C. Kimball, who also lived in the area.

 

Heber C. Kimball lived in this area, near the home and mill of Brigham Young.

 

The creek flows through Brigham Young’s property.

 

Brigham was baptized in this creek in April 1832.

The cemetery and Kimball home site are located on this hill overlooking much of Mendon.

 

The entrance to the Brigham Young home site is on the south side of Cheese Factory Road, just east of the John Young home. The home was located in the trees beyond the field.

Phineas Young home. Brigham’s brother Phineas received a copy of the Book of Mormon from Samuel Smith. This was his first exposure to the restored gospel.

 

Tomlinson Inn. It was here that Samuel Smith sold a copy of the Book of Mormon to Phineas Young on the first mission of this dispensation.

 

Many meetings of the Mendon Branch, which was organized in 1832, were held in the Tomlinson Inn.
